• XSN cannot function as an independent word; it must attach to a noun or word stem.

Special cases

• Cases where XSN is not parsed separately:
  • The XSN tag functions primarily as a suffix, not as a derivational morpheme that forms new nouns. Therefore, in most cases, XSN is analyzed separately when it attaches to a noun to add extra meaning.
  • However, some nouns derived from a verb or an adjective are often not tagged as XSN.
